Sewing Project No. ?? - Developments

From this, to this...to this.

I'm trying out the jacket from this New Look Patterns set.

Toile 1 is done, but a large number of alterations are needed.

Oh well...on to toile 2!

Alterations, Alterations and more Alterations!!

The pieces awaiting alterations are getting bigger (not sure if this is a good thing, or not!)

Upcycling and repairing to give clothes a second life to try and be more sustainable. Need to also look through my remnants to see what i can use up in there as well...hopefully there will be some fabrics that match.

Maker Monday: A new project...

Another sewing project is one the table for another me made make!

Thankfully the pattern is a random repeat so no pattern matching needed...yay! :D

Fingers crossed all my alterations work.

Jenny Packham: In Conversation with Louise Roe . Hosted by the Victoria and Albert Museum

 About last night...

I attended a wonderful in conversation with Jenny Packham online talk with the Victoria and Albert Museum and fashion journalist, Louise Roe.

As someone who interned for her brand as a fashion student all those years ago, it was lovely to hear about her design process and inspiration. It was particularly nice to hear about the collection she created during lockdown using fabrics and trims she found whilst clearing out her studio. I'm a big believer in re-purposing and reusing things and its nice to see so many designers doing this at the moment.

Louise Roe also made a lovely point about about Jenny Packham being nice to everyone; something i heartily agree with! She was one of the rare group of designers who i interned with as a student who took the time to speak to her interns and she was always so polite and easy to talk to. At the time, this was pretty much unheard of! :)

I really enjoyed this event; i look forward to the next one!

The Little Dictionary of Fashion: H is for...

H is for hemlines and holidays in The Little Dictionary of Fashion by Christian Dior.

It is apparently important to find ones own skirt length where the only rule is good taste; and when holidaying, wear simple and casual clothes (not much different from our current day to day is it?!), which British women know how to do best 😆 who knew! Not sure what that says about us, but anyway, if Dior said it, it must be true.

Vintage advice from 1954.

Maker Monday: Grey Pleat Detail Vest

Another me-made pattern cloned vest with pleated detail.

As i now have a block pattern for vest tops, it was quite simple to cut it out again in a grey polycotton and add a digital printed silk remnant (that I seem to have kept for over 10 years!) in a series of knife pleats to the bottom.

A definite summer piece (for when it arrives!)

On to the next project :)

Making, Making and More Making!!!

Continuing with another me-made make...

The pleated section (in the fabric i've held onto for over a decade! is finally topstitched into place. Only the final finishes to go!

Will share the final product very soon!

Viktor & Rolf Couture

I've been going through some of my old Vogue magazines that seem to have accumulated over the last few years, and saw this wonderful image of Viktor & Rolf Couture. I think the image was from an editorial in 2018; such a lovely fashion moment!
