Creative Promotion Idea from Oobar Butler on Viceland

As a lecturer, I'm always looking for new ideas to include in my classes when I teach. One of my most recent finds was an amazing video shown on Viceland UK's Instagram and Facebook page.

Oobah Butler, a freelance writer, created a video post called 'The Time I Faked My Way to the Top of Paris Fashion Week'. He took on the persona of the creative director of little known brand 'Georgio Peviani' and worked his way into Paris Fashion Week. The promotional tactics on display here are some of the best I have ever seen and the video at the link below is a must-see for any fashion student. The phrase 'fake it till you make it' has never been more apt.

Take a look here to see the video.

Make a Vintage Dress Workshop at MAC Birmingham

There are a few places left on my Make a Vintage Dress Workshop at MAC Birmingham this weekend.

We recommend this lovely Butterwick pattern (B6094) to sew in the workshop as its relatively simple and a great classic shape to add to your wardrobe. However, we do ask that you have some sewing experience before coming to this course.

To book your place, click this link.

See you there!

New Pattern Drafting Series at the Sewing Cafe

Due to popular demand, the Sewing Cafe and I have added in some more of my pattern drafting classes. Both the bodice and skirt/ trouser will be run concurrently over the new few Saturdays.

For the first session, individual measurements were taken so custom made pattern blocks could be drafted. Its vitally important that accurate measurements are taken as this will throw off the pattern drafting process. Also, its nearly impossible to measure yourself, so get a friend to help you. The measurements are more accurate this way.

Stay tuned for part 2 of these workshops in a fortnights time.
