New 2018 MAC Courses

Really happy to announce some new courses for the Spring/ Summer season at MAC Birmingham. As well as my usual workshops, I'm introducing the 'make a vintage style dress' 2 day workshop to the mix. 

In this course, you can bring a classic vintage pattern with you (we recommend the Butterwick Ladies Easy Sewing Pattern 6094 Vintage style Dress Pattern) and some fabric of your choice, and I will take you through the process of how to work with a commercial pattern, how to make necessary changes and how to construct your piece.

Rescheduled Pattern Drafting Class at the Sewing Cafe

Due to the terrible weather (when I was snowed in!), the 2nd pattern drafting session had to be rescheduled and joined the 3rd session for a complete day of pattern cutting on Saturday.

Final fittings for the skirts and trousers were conducted in the morning and everyone worked well to make the minor amendments to their patterns before their final makes in the afternoon. Trousers can be difficult to fit and can at times be a bit of trial and error. To help explain the changes I was making in the fittings, I used some great alteration examples that I have collected on my 'Fittings' Pinterest board. You can take a look at it here.

Once final fabric was prepared (always press and steam your final fabric to eliminate potential stretch/ shrinkage issues!!), everyone worked really hard to try and complete their final pieces. Take a look at everyone's progress on my Instagram feed below...

CANCELLED: Today's Pattern Drafting class at the Sewing Cafe

Due to the extreme weather, (who'd have thought we would have such bad snow in March!) this afternoons class at The Sewing Cafe has unfortunately had to be cancelled. We will be rescheduling the session shortly. Looking forward to seeing everyone toiles soon!
