I was very lucky last year to be able to visit Florence in Italy.
This trip was originally planned for a couple of years ago, but due to covid was rescheduled to last summer.
I've been meaning to shared some of the wonderful sights and sounds of this trip for a while but have found it hard to whittle it down to just a few. So instead, i will be sharing a number of throwbacks over the coming weeks to highlight some of the amazing things that i saw.
First up...the Duomo, or Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore as it was known was finished in 1436 and created by architects Cambio, Fabris and most famously Brunelleschi, whose name is linked to the world famous dome.
The structure is stunning to behold and the dome's size is difficult to demonstrate in pictures or videos. What did surprise me is that the dome's outer facade appears white and red in some pictures but is actually white and green tile.
I highly recommend visiting if you are in Florence!
