Remembrance Sunday

For Remembrance Sunday, i wanted to throwback to sculptor Jackie Lantelli 'ghostlike' installation in the grounds of the Slimbridge Church in Gloucestershire to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War.

A poignant and beautiful series of figures that represent the 11 fallen soldiers from the village.

The Little Dictionary of Fashion: E is for...

E is for Elegance and Embroidery in The Little Dictionary of Fashion by Christian Dior

It seems without either of these things, only pretentiousness remain in Dior's eyes. These are important things to note! Fashion advice from 1954.

Throwback: The Owl at Peckforton Castle

Throwback to the time when we could travel and the owl sculpture at Peckforton Castle.
Its lovely to find random and quirky things when i visit new places.

Interesting things...

A Singer sewing machine sink stand. A throwback to a fabulous design feature in an Air BnB house in Poole I stayed in earlier in the year.

Maker Monday: Baby Pillow

I wanted to share the gift i made for a close friend who has recently had a baby.

I had some fabric remnants left over from previous baby blankets that i had made and wanted to make something special for her newborn daughter.

Everything for this pillow has been recycled and reused from previous makes, including the stuffing, so its as eco-friendly as possible.

Also, the fabric i used was a mixture of super soft fleeces and jerseys; gentle on babies skin, very soft and most importantly, will go through the washing machine easily!
