Support MAC Birmingham
As many of you know, I teach sewing and pattern cutting classes at the wonderful MAC Birmingham. Unfortunately, due to funding cuts, they will lose some of their funding from April 2017 . MAC is a fabulous place to visit, learn and work and I encourage you all to visit and support this amazing organisation by coming to see an exhibition, attending a workshop (all of my MAC workshops are listed on the courses page), watching and play or movie, or simply having coffee in the MAC Cafe and a walk around the park.
Below is the message from Debbie Kermode, CEO and Artistic Director of MAC Birmingham:
Love us?
Many of you will have read that our funding from the city council is being cut by 70% from April. We have been here for 54 years and intend to be here for a lot longer so our message is clear:
If you love us, help us. Use us.
Come and check out an exhibition, watch a film or performance, have lunch in our cafe or a drink at the bar. Bring a friend. Bring all your friends. We are here for you to use and enjoy.
Thanks for your support.

BRAND NEW COURSE! Pattern Alteration: Bust Adjustments
I'm really happy to announce a brand new course with The Sewing Cafe in Hinckley.
"Learn how to adjust commercial sewing patterns to suit your shape. This practical workshop will address many of the common fit issues when making your own clothes, including small and large bust adjustments, plus moving darts. You will also learn how to take accurate measurements to work out how and when adjustments should be made. You'll work through the theory on scaled down pattern blocks."
The theory learnt in this class can then be applied to full size patterns to make those important adjustments.
For more information and to book your place, head over to The Sewing Cafe's Website

A Great Start to 2017!
Its been a great start to 2017 with some amazing sewing and pattern drafting projects from all those who have attended my workshops at MAC Birmingham and The Sewing Cafe in Hinckley.
Some fabulous upcycled clothes were altered, customised and 'pretty-fied' on my Introduction to Clothes Alteration course.
This course is perfect for anyone wanting to repair, alter or customise their old, unwanted clothing. There is another session of this course scheduled for Saturday 13th of May. Once you have been on this course, you are more than welcome to come again if you have more pieces that need fixing!
As well as recycling old garments, those who came to my introduction to pattern cutting course also made brand new pieces that were custom made to fit each individual. The next session of introduction to pattern cutting is 29th and 30th April. There is also an intermediate level course of this subject scheduled for August.
To find out more about these courses, head over to my courses page for more information.
